CLSU faculty is 2012 Outstanding Vet in Educ
The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association awarded Dr. Clarissa Yvonne J. Domingo, an Associate Professor of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine of CLSU, the 2012 PVMA OUTSTANDING VETERINARIAN IN EDUCATION on February 16, 2012 during the 79th PVMA Scientific Conference and Annual Convention.

The criteria of this award include (1) 80% Classroom Performance and Management which cover 30% Institution, 25% Community Extension and 25% and, (2) 20% Professional development which take in contributions of the nominee to the field of education, scholarships and professional qualities based on bio-data. Only nominees that receive 80% grade average are qualified.
With the theme “Veterinarian Matters…”, the convention was held from February 15 to 17, 2012 at the L’Fisher Hotel, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Around 1,600 veterinarians from all over the country attended the annual affair.
Dr. Domingo has been a faculty of CVSM since 1983. She finished her DVM, MPH and Dr.PH from the University of the Philippines. She is also a multi-awardee of several prestigious awards such as being the first runner-up in the search for the Model Teacher award in 1999 which was sponsored by the Office of the Mayor and CLSU, a recipient of the Best Paper Award from 2003 until 2011, given by the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association, Philippine Society of Animal Science and by the In-House R & D Reviews of CLSU and the Philippine Carabao Center. She also received the Best Presenter Award in the 2010 In-House R & D Review of the PCC and a recipient of another national award, the 2010 OUTSTANDING VETERINARIAN IN VETERINARY RESEARCH sponsored by the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines. Dr. Domingo is also a recipient of three research grants funded by ACIAR, FAO and PCAARRD.
Being a multi-awarded veterinarian and academician, Dr. Domingo believes that if one is faithful in small things, God will put him in charge of bigger things. According to her, she believes that all her promotions are God-given and her part is to be a good steward of all the opportunities she receives especially by being an efficient and effective mentor to all.
CLSU shines in Vet Board Exam ‘11
The CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine once again proved that it is indeed a center of excellence in the field of veterinary medicine by dominating the top ten passers in the August 2011 Veterinarian Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Four of the top ten examinees who garnered the highest scores in the recently concluded licensure exam are CLSU graduates. Magna cum laude and valedictorian of CLSU class 2011, Errol Jay Y. Balagan, ranked second; Kristine J. Esguerra, fourth; Yasser C. Cabansag, seventh and Allen M. Veloso, eighth.
"It's overwhelming. I'm proud to be a CLSU graduate," Balagan stressed. "Maganda talaga ang foundation natin dito sa CLSU at malaking edge yun kaya namin ito nakamit," he said.

CLSU registered a passing percentage of 63.83%. Thirty out of 47 examinees from CLSU passed the exam.
The national passing rate is 36%; a total of 204 out of 566 examinees from all over the country passed the exam.
The successful examinees will take their oath on August 29, 2011 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Roxas Blvd., Manila.
